Home and Dry

March 17, 2013

Congratulations to the Dry family! A friend and colleague, Dr. Dry, gave birth to a bouncing baby boy this week.

Drys

Sometimes we forget that doctors are patients too.

When you live in a one-hospital town, your doctor may be lying in the adjacent hospital bed. This degree of familiarity is foreign to me because I grew up in a big city.

I believe, though, that a town gains in camaraderie that which it loses in anonymity. We all have defined roles in the community and give our best to contribute in order to sustain the health and wealth of our area.

In a town like this, doctors are patients; bosses are employees; servers are clients; and people are people.

I hope that little Jonathan grows up with all the support and encouragement he needs from the community entrusted with guiding his development.

It is a collective responsibility that bears gravitas but … a privilege that inspires promise.
